Bob was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. He received his undergraduate degree from Manhattan College majoring in Marketing. After a 21 year career as in the US Air Force, the majority of which was spent flying F-4 Phantoms, Bob began his second career in the insurance business joining Mutual of New York (MONY) in July, 1990. He immediately entered into a partnership with Bill & Mary Cutler, friends from his Air Force days, forming Cutler, Cutler & Heffernan, Inc. In 1991, they decided to explore alternate markets and began prospecting in the “Worksite Marketing” area specializing in Voluntary Benefits, Payroll Deduction and Cafeteria Plan marketing.
Bob has an MBA from the University of Utah where he was awarded membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, National Scholastic Honor Society for students of business and finance. He also received his Certified Financial Planner designation in 1992. A former MONY Chairman’s Cup qualifier, he is a five time FORUM level producer, and ten time Top 50 producer as well as a member of MONY’s Hall of Fame. He is also a life and qualifying member of the MDRT. In addition, he has qualified for every Allstate Heritage Club since 1992.
In 2006, Bob’s agency received the prestigious, T. O’Neal Douglas Award from Allstate Workplace Division in recognition of their outstanding service to the industry. In 2007, the agency became the first to join the Benefits Technologies team – leading the way in developing the “Power of Options” approach to expanding our business model.
A member of St. Joseph’s parish in Mandarin, Florida since 1990, he is active in the men’s club and serves as a lector at mass. He is a long time supporter of Special Olympics, the USO, The Wounded Warrior Project and a number of Humane Society Charities. In addition, over the past ten years, he and his wife have sponsored seven children in underdeveloped countries through the Christian Foundation for Children and the Aged (CFCA).
Bob has been married to Irene for 42 years. They have three children and four grand children (who they will be happy to tell you all about). He’s an avid golfer, rabid football fan (Gators & Jaguars) but mostly enjoys spending his “down” time at their family vacation home in Maggie Valley, NC.
